On behalf of the Polish Society of Laboratory Diagnostics (PTDL) and the Polish Society of Lipidology (PTL), we would like to inform you of a change in the guidelines for calculating LDL-C levels.
After a thorough analysis of the scientific studies conducted by members of the Steering Committee on the management of dyslipidemia, including diagnosis of treatment, monitoring and prevention, and a critical evaluation of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including an assessment of the benefit-risk ratio, the decision was made to change the calculation of LDL-C from the Friedewald formula to the Sampson-NIH formula.
We would like to kindly inform you that Marcel S.A. has updated its systems to enable a smooth transition to the new standard. We encourage all laboratories to adjust their procedures according to the new guidelines and start using the Sampson-NIH template.
